Your TikTok account as a feed

Connect your TikTok account once, and your public videos become a tab in your Video Showcase that keeps itself up to date. No links to paste, and nothing to do when you post.

Connect your account

Open your Video Showcase in the editor. Go to the Videos tab, and under Add a source as a new tab choose TikTok.
Press "Connect your TikTok account". You are taken to TikTok's own page. Sign in there if you are not already. We never see your TikTok password.
Approve the two permissions. TikTok asks whether DreamWidget may read your profile name and your public videos. Leave both on and press Authorize. You land back in the editor.
Press "Add my TikTok videos as a tab". Your newest videos appear as a tab, with their covers and titles. Rename the tab, reorder it, or switch single videos off, like any other tab.
Save, then Publish. From here on the tab looks after itself: your newest videos arrive on their own, and you never need to come back unless you want to change how it looks.

What we can see, and what we cannot

The connection is read only. We can read your display name and picture, and your public videos: their titles, descriptions, covers, links, dates and view counts. That is all TikTok gives an app like ours, and all we ask for.

We cannot post, delete, comment, message, follow, see private or friends-only videos, see your drafts, or see anything about your followers. Videos you set to private never appear in the widget.

New videos arrive on their own

Every minute we check your account, and anything new goes on the front of the tab and onto your site. You do not need to open the editor. A video you switched off in the editor stays off, and a title you changed stays changed.

In a hurry? Open the editor and press Refresh videos, then Save & Publish, and the newest are there at once.

Showing someone else's videos

The connection reads the account that signed in, and only that one: TikTok does not let anyone list another creator's videos. For videos from other accounts, paste their links, one per line, in the same TikTok box. Both can sit in one tab. See TikTok links in a Video Showcase.

Once a year, connect again

TikTok lets a connection last one year. We renew it quietly in the background until then. When the year is up the editor says so, and one press of Connect starts another year. Your tab and its videos stay exactly as they are in the meantime; only new videos wait.

Disconnect

In the same box, press Disconnect. Your TikTok videos and profile header come out of every widget they are in, your published widgets included, we tell TikTok to cancel the permission, and we delete what we held. Videos you pasted as single links are not touched. You can connect again at any time. You can also remove DreamWidget from inside TikTok: Settings and privacy, Security and permissions, Manage app permissions.

If something goes wrong

"The permission to list your videos was turned off." On TikTok's page one of the two switches was turned off. Connect again and leave both on.

The tab is empty. Only public videos can be read. Check that the account and its videos are public in TikTok's privacy settings.

A cover is missing. TikTok's own cover links expire, so we keep our own copy of each one. If a cover is still blank after a minute, the video was probably removed or made private at TikTok.
